Poste Italiane needed to improve the management of payment slips, whose processing represented a significant burden on the front counter: a more modern infrastructure was required, to make their handling more efficient. The Institution wanted a standard technology, so they could eliminate the custom software and tailor-made hardware that was in use until that time.
