In this article, we have the pleasure of talking a little bit with Cristina Mininno, our Product Quality Engineer & Project Manager, directly from the R&D lab at our Turin-based headquarters.<\/p>\n

What motivated you to study engineering?<\/strong>
\nI have always been a curious person, and I have always enjoyed discovering and understanding how things work. Despite not being my chosen field of study, in high school, I started studying some computer science (I still have my first 3.5″ floppy disk at home), and this passion led me to pursue engineering after graduation. This not only allowed me to learn at an academic level but also taught me how to approach problems rationally, analyze them, and always find a solution.<\/p>\n

What do you like most about your job?<\/strong>
\nEven though it may not seem like it, my job is creative, and being able to experiment and think outside the box is what I enjoy the most. People tend to think that the tester’s job is monotonous and sometimes boring. Of course, it is a methodical job because it needs to be repeatable, and that’s why test cases and test plans are written. However, there’s also a part where you have to think outside the box, try to do things not specified in the requirements: in a sense, you have to “challenge” the device and see how it behaves. This is the part I like the most.<\/p>\n

Over the past year, I have also taken on the role of Project Manager within R&D. It is a new role for me, but I like it because it allows me to interact with my colleagues not only from a technical standpoint but also from a managerial perspective, giving me the opportunity to understand the characteristics and challenges of their work. Additionally, it allows me to interact and interface with other departments in the company, giving me the opportunity to understand how we are all interconnected.<\/p>\n

Can you share a significant result or project you are particularly proud of in your career?<\/strong>
\nIf I had to choose just one, I would say BioCred because I saw it born and evolve over time, so I feel a bit like it’s “mine.” However, I must say that I am proud of my entire testing career, from the beginning until now, as it has allowed me to learn a lot and meet people who have greatly contributed to my growth over time.<\/p>\n

What advice would you give to a girl aspiring to pursue a career as an engineer?<\/strong>
\nI would tell her to believe in what she is doing and not give up. It’s a long and sometimes uphill road, but it is a path that brings a lot of satisfaction.<\/p>\n

Cosa ti cosa ti ha spinto a studiare ingegneria?<\/strong>
\nSono sempre stata una persona curiosa e mi \u00e8 sempre piaciuto scoprire e capire come funzionano le cose. Nonostante non fosse il mio indirizzo di studio, alle superiori ho iniziato a studiare un po\u2019 di informatica (ho ancora a casa il mio primo floppy da 3.5\u201d) e questo mi ha appassionata a tal punto che dopo il diploma ho deciso che volevo saperne di pi\u00f9 e quindi mi sono iscritta a ingegneria. Questo mi ha permesso non solo di imparare a livello didattico ma mi ha insegnato soprattutto ad affrontare i problemi in modo razionale, ad analizzarli e a trovare sempre una soluzione.<\/p>\n

Cosa ti piace di pi\u00f9 del tuo lavoro?<\/strong>
\nAnche se non sembra il mio \u00e8 un lavoro creativo e il poter sperimentare e agire fuori dagli schemi \u00e8 la cosa che mi piace di pi\u00f9.
\nSi tende a pensare che il lavoro del tester sia monotono e a tratti noioso. Ovviamente \u00e8 un lavoro metodico perch\u00e9 deve essere ripetibile ed \u00e8 il motivo per cui vengono redatti i test cases e i test plan, ma oltre a questo c\u2019\u00e8 anche la parte in cui bisogna pensare fuori dagli schemi, la parte in cui bisogna provare a fare quello che non \u00e8 previsto dalle specifiche: in un certo senso bisogna \u201csfidare\u201d il dispositivo e vedere come si comporta. Questa \u00e8 la parte che mi piace di pi\u00f9.<\/p>\n

Da un anno a questa parte ricopro anche il ruolo di Project Manager all\u2019interno R&D, \u00e8 un ruolo nuovo per me ma mi piace in quanto mi permette di relazionarmi con i miei colleghi non solo dal punto di vista tecnico ma anche dal punto di vista gestionale, dandomi la possibilit\u00e0 di capire quali sono le caratteristiche e le criticit\u00e0 del loro lavoro. Inoltre, mi d\u00e0 anche la possibilit\u00e0 di interagire ed interfacciarmi con gli altri dipartimenti della societ\u00e0, dandomi l\u2019opportunit\u00e0 di capire come siamo tutti interconnessi.<\/p>\n

Puoi condividere un risultato significativo o un progetto di cui sei particolarmente orgogliosa nella tua carriera?<\/strong>
\nSe dovessi dirne solo uno, direi BioCred in quanto l\u2019ho visto nascere ed evolvere nel corso del tempo, quindi lo sento un po\u2019 \u201cmio\u201d.
\nDevo dire per\u00f2 che sono orgogliosa di tutta la mia carriera da tester, dall\u2019inizio fino ad oggi, perch\u00e9 mi ha permesso di imparare tanto e di conoscere persone che nel corso del tempo mi hanno fatta crescere molto.<\/p>\n

Cosa consiglieresti a una ragazza che aspira a intraprendere una carriera da ingegnera?<\/strong>
\nDi credere in quello che sta facendo e di non mollare. E\u2019 una strada lunga, a volte in salita ma \u00e8 una strada che porta tante soddisfazioni.<\/p>\n
